Meet Viv! Viv was in her early 40s with 2 teenage children when she had a SCAD Heart Attack. Viv was swimming with friends “I did a few laps but it didn’t feel right. I felt cold, I vomited and then felt agitated and then I vomited again,” she said. “I knew something was wrong. I was throbbing.” Viv managed to get herself to a medical centre where they called an ambulance and moved her to Westmead Hospital where the cardiac team were waiting for her. Her heart stopped twice on the way. Viv’s heart attack was caused by a SCAD. She said she didn’t dial 000 immediately because she didn’t want to cause a fuss.
“Don’t do what I did, just call an ambulance straight away,” she said. “If this had happened at home I don’t think I would be here today.”
